pictures!

So we didn't go anywhere but I did take pictures today. Sarah likes to have her hair done. I should say she likes the results of having her hair done. She's great about holding still and only occasionally says "hurt'n".

Taylor likes to give the hands up to everyone with a squirt gun in hand. He'll follow us around until we forget and put our hands down. Here are some pictures.

We found the frog

We've been home and staying out of the water. Taylor needed to get another set of stitches from the sprinkler accident so that puts water out of our reach. It's will be total of 3 weeks with stitches. Sarah and Taylor have been having fun with Taylor's new bed. It's a loft bed and they enjoy "camping" under it. "Camping" is now their favorite play thing. Sarah sets up the "site" and Taylor "starts the fire"and tells the scary stories. We had a big talk about real fire not being ok in the house. Sarah now has starting asking for a bed like Taylor's. This is the first time she has really expressed a like to us so it's fun to see her continue to open up.

So we did find the frog. The frog had been lost for a couple of weeks. Taylor and I were convinced that he got left outside. BUT as I was cleaning windows from the outside and Taylor was doing the inside he asked "mom what's this?" I didn't look up and then I heard "Hi froggie" from Taylor. I came inside and sure enough he had found a dried up leather looking frog. He did realize the frog was dead but he didn't want to throw him in the garbage. Another chat and the frog with his germs went in the garbage.

Sarah is doing great with speech therapy. She loves her teacher Monica. She will start preschool this fall and Taylor will start kindergarten. Sarah will need to be re-evaled for her soft palate in October and probably have surgery in December to lengthen it. We are hoping that her pressure sounds will be better after that. Right now her d,f,g,p,r,s, and other sounds are hard to understand. She doesn't mind it. We sing songs and it helps with the sounds.

I have to go. I'm at work and we are having a "q" day here. We don't use words like "quite" here; I work with superstitious people. Smile Smile.

Have a great week. -Becky

All the things we didn't bring the camera for!

So it's been awhile since I posted. It's because I love to add pictures but I keep forgetting our camera at home.

1st I forgot the camera for our first camping trip with Sarah. We bought a trailer from some friends and it was the first trip with it. It was a blast. Taylor loves that he sleeps on the top bed and Sarah fit on a seat where the table is. Thad took the kids on a Friday while I was working and I came on Saturday. I love that Thad enjoys the kids so much. They had fun making smores and playing in the river. As a family we hiked to Tamanuwas Falls. Sarah made about 1 1/2 miles of the trip by herself. Taylor did about 2 1/2 miles by himself. It was 4 miles total. They had a blast. Taylor likes to know he is in front and Sarah likes to find any rock to jump off of. She gets so happy with herself that she falls right after it. It was hilarious.

Then I forgot the camera for the 4Th of July. We went to the Hood River Parade and saw cool WWII style airplanes. We saw Thad's family for a picnic and then saw my sister until going to fireworks. Wow it was a long day but one to remember. We have so much to be thankful for here in the US.

I forgot the camera for the event of the week: Taylor vs. the sprinkler pipe. The pipe won. He opened his leg up deep and off to the ER we went. We were 45 minutes away but he did great. To my surprise he gritted his teeth when they numbed him up and cried only at the end. He likes to try to be a tough kid but he can whine with the best. I love you buddy. Great job!

Other sweet wonderful news for us. Taylor asked Jesus to "forgive his sins and clean him" tonight. We were in the bathroom and Sarah was taking a bath. Taylor asked if he would need to "go live with Jesus when his leg got better". I said no; why. He said he thought it would be fun. I explained again that God is so special and pure that he can't live with people who are not as clean and pure as He is. Taylor was sad. I explained that the gap is so wide that no one can jump across it. We went over a few verses that explain it better. We talked about Jesus and how he was special like God: that he never did or thought anything bad. That He is Gods son sent from Heaven. We talked about that Jesus asked God to accept his payment for our sins. Taylor started to perk up. We talked about Jesus's gift to us and that we need to ask Him to forgive us and say that we accept His gift. He perked up again and said the verse he is working on John 3:16 "for God so loved the world that He gave his only Son. That whoever believes in Him will not perish but have everlasting life." Usually he needs help with the verse but not tonight. He asked me for help and I said sure. So I prayed and he repeated without me asking him to. He asked Jesus to forgive him for the things he does that aren't what Jesus would want him to do. He thanked Jesus for giving Himself as a price for his sins.

What a great night by the bathtub.
